The Maternity team appreciates that every woman, baby and family is unique and will have different needs. We respect the right of the mother to make informed choices regarding all aspects of her childbirth experience.The multidisciplinary Maternity care team aims to promote the health and wellbeing of the parents and their baby during pregnancy, labour, birth and the early weeks after birth. We believe we can achieve this by being sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the whole family, and by providing a high quality, safe, effective and supportive service.When circumstances mean that the original plan changes, we will provide evidence based information and an explanation of the choices available. This will enable the woman and her birth partner to make an informed and responsible decision regarding their care.As a team, we will treat all women and their families with kindness and maintain professionalism in all that we do. We are committed to an open and honest culture and to sharing compliments, comments and concerns to assist our learning to improve care in the future.We believe that maintaining and promoting a mother's independence and control over her pregnancy and childbirth events will lead to greater satisfaction in the first weeks and months after giving birth, thus ensuring a positive experience of one of the most rewarding life events.Ipswich Hospital is part of East Suffolk & North Essex Foundation Trust.Every year we provide maternity care for nearly 4,000 families.The services we provide include antenatal care, care during labour and postnatal care both in hospital and at home, depending on your circumstances.
